JTJ Architects is owned and operated by Joana Tan Jamo. As the Principal she has the opportunity to work as the Architect-Designer, Architect-Project Manager and as the Developer-Owner's Representative. It is a win-win situation having Joana manage your entire project, whether it is small or large. Whether you are considering a residential or commercial project, Joana can provide her expertise with the architecture, planning and design. Joana meets with clients, identifying their needs and desires with their budgets in mind. Joana's philosophy is to work closely together with the client to understand their needs, to help the client make the optimal decision by providing creative, architectural solutions that are pragmatic, efficient as well as aesthetic. Sustainability and Passive Solar Design are unspoken principles behind Joana's work and approach towards design, planning and selection of materials.
Joana Tan Jamo graduated with a Masters in Business Administration from the London Business School, London, United Kingdom and from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a Bachelor of Architecture. Joana is a licensed architect with the State of Connecticut. Her professional affiliations include the National Council of Architectural Registration Board and the American Institute of Architects. Joana's past experience includes working as a Designer and Project Manager for hotels, resorts, offices, residential and transit stations in Singapore. In London, United Kingdom, Joana was the Owner's Representative and Project Manager for the Canary Wharf's waterfront project.
Joana resides in Woodbury with her husband and 6 year old son. Joana emphatically states that Woodbury "has the best of everything" and is the "ideal place to bring up a family." As a resident and business owner in Woodbury, Joana is committed to helping others in the Woodbury area. She is in the process of volunteering her expertise on community projects in the Woodbury area, and in the past she has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
