As you enter the dental office of James S. Bauer, D.M.D. you are instantly comforted by the warm decor and calm feel of the office. Although you won't be sitting in the waiting room for too long, you can sit and enjoy an up-to-date magazine or newspaper. Adjacent to the spacious waiting room is a children's corner equipped with toys. The waiting room also displays children's' artwork and thank you notes written to Dr. Bauer by his young patients. These notes are also from local preschool and elementary schools where Dr. Bauer volunteers his time teaching students about dental health. As you enter an exam room, soothing music, plus the meticulous care and cleanliness of the room, immediately puts you to ease.
Dr. Bauer received his BA in Anthropology from Tufts University in 1982 and later received his D.M.D. degree from Fairleigh Dickinson Dental School in 1986, Dr. Bauer's wife, Joanne, graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene. He completed his dental residency program at Danbury Hospital in 1987 and stayed on at Danbury Hospital as an attending dentist teaching and working with new residents from 1987 through 1991. In 1988, Dr. Bauer began his practice in Woodbury making this his 22nd year in practice in Woodbury.
Over the last twenty-two years, Dr. and Mrs. Bauer have raised their two sons in Woodbury. Their oldest son, Jay, is in his second year at Colgate University. Jordan, their youngest son, is a seventh grader at Chase Collegiate School. The most memorable part of Dr. Bauer's professional and personal life is the "wonderful experience of meeting new friends and treating patients on a professional level since we began our practice in 1988," Dr. Bauer states.
When Dr. Bauer is not at the office he is either spending time with his family or actively participating in the community. Over the last twenty years, he has been a member of the St. Paul's church choir and has served as a youth group teacher and leader. Dr. Bauer is an active participant with the local baseball, football, and basketball programs as both a coach and a parent supporter. As a member of the Tufts Alumni Admissions Program, Dr. Bauer interviews prospective students for consideration on acceptance to Tufts University.
