Longwood Country Inn
Tina Canille

Did you ever dream of dining in a garden that General Rochambeau passed through or taking a romantic getaway in the same home that Benjamin Franklin had visited?  If you think that these two dreams are impossible, then you might be surprised to learn that Longwood Country Inn has been visited by these two distinguished guests, thus making it notable on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Longwood Country Inn, decorated in antique décor, is situated within the historic district and along the antique corridor of Woodbury.  This historical site was built in 1789 and still has the original baseboards, fixtures, ceiling carvings, and wood floors.  Longwood Country Inn features seven guest rooms each equipped with a full bathroom.  There are three suites and each is adorned with a gas fireplace as well as a Jacuzzi tub.  The Inn maintains its historical charm while providing guests with up-to-date amenities including wireless internet.

Longwood Country Inn also has a fantastic restaurant, as supported by Tina Canille, Innkeeper, who perfectly stated, “The dining is causal but elegant and it is more than a special occasion place.” Longwood Country Inn’s restaurant lends a perfect setting for bridal showers, anniversary parties, dinners, and family reunions. You may choose to dine in the dining room with the warmth and glow of its fireplace or in the garden on a warm day or evening.  The New England American cuisine with European fusion dishes are prepared with fresh and local ingredients and the wine list offers many international choices.  To finish this elegant meal, you have a choice of an assortment of homemade pastries.    Another dining option is the price fixed brunch which includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert table with beverages which is an unbelievable deal for $24.

The Longwood Country Inn has received numerous awards including the 2007-2009 Zagat rating as well as “Romantic Tops in Connecticut” for 2009 in romantic dining.
Other awards by Connecticut Magazine include Best Sunday Brunch 2007-2009, Best New Restaurant for 2007, and the Reader’s Choice Award.
